First 14 days

 

Pictures of my luggage, Susan making cookies for the Borman family in Grants Pass, Byrons truck with my Trek and folks who saw us off- The Bakers- Susan- The Bettencourts, Mt. Shasta, Matt & April Bormans place Grants Pass, Astoria Dennis's room-The restaurant with six Carmichael Kiwanians-The bridge from Astoria to The State of Washington from our room.  The Reimers, The Stern's, The Johnsons, Byron & Me are the six Carmichael Kiwanians plus Jenny and Pat.  

 

The Start

 

 

It’s been a challenging but rewarding ride. The guys feel it has been one of the hardest things we have done. Oregon mountains are many and tough. Each picture has a little caption. We are still feeling the butt pain of long days. Long hot difficult climbs with accelerating down hill runs to the next climb.

 

Days Five & Six Day John Day to Baker City

 

 

We rode 98 miles today. Nice most of the day. Hot towards the end. Lots of agriculture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 11

Mt Home to Twin Falls

 

 

 

The first three days of our ride. Astoria to St. Helens/75 miles; St. Hellens to Welchs/77 miles; Welchs to Kahneeta Casino/Hotel/70 miles. LOTS OF HILLS and down hills.

Days Seven & Eight

To Ontario & to Boise ID

 

41 miles this morning, but tomorrow is over 100 miles. Nice weather. the water falls are part of the hydro electric damn and looks more like a damn. doing fine. We get to the Mountains soon! PS- I didn’t really shoot that picture going 20 miles an hour, I was stopped. Made a good story to tell.

 

Day 12

Twin Falls to Burly

 

A short 35 mile ride today but a tuff day tomorrow with climbing of about 4000 ft up in the mountains. Should be very pretty and lots of pictures. Every one of us is doing okay. Looking forward to tomorrow.

 

Day 14

Blackfoot to Idaho Falls

 

Day four was 4000 feet of climbing but only 61 miles from the casino to Prinville Oregon, cattle country. I was at the concierges desk at the casino. Kiwanians, these picture are for sale if you want to sell them give the proceeds to the family house...Tomorrow(Friday) is a very long day 117 miles and its Keith’s birthday present. Keith, Dennis and I are holding up okay, our butts are still in tact believe it or not. Abe is riding with us now ....

 

Day 4

 

Day 9 was a rest day, on Day 10 We rode 50 miles this a.m. and it took about 41/2 hours. good tail wind. We are in Mountain Home. It has cooled down. We are in good shape. Even our buttock’s are better. Bought Butt'r, CO2 cartridges & a pair of well padded bike shorts. And my new bike has a motor!! Love you all! And Happy Birthday Carrie!

 

Day 10

Boise to Mountain Home

 

112 miles today at 15 mph. Got up to high 80's. Aberdeen lunch spot was run by 3 High Schoolers. good place. Ben, Chris from France is 13 and having problems with his knee. He and his older bro and his mom ride a Tridom. It breaks down to a Dandom so the other two can ride a dandom.
