Day 43 – Rest Day

Niagara Falls NY

Today started out wet and we rode along the Erie Canal towards Albany. We did 84 again. good riding conditions. The guy from New York and hid wife live in this area and told me Ronald Reagan lived here and did the GE Hour for years. Jimmy Carter went to College here at RPI. Tommy Lasorda played ball here but could not spell Skencktady so he told his mom he was playing for a town not far from Troy. Also they have water skiing at Jumpin Jacks. It’s right on the Mohawk River and great burgers.

Day 47

Little Falls NY to

Troy NY

Today we did lots of site seeing. We saw Kennebunkport, Headlight/fort Williams, and Portland Maine. May go to Freeport tomorrow or may head for Boston, who knows? Its fun and we will soon return to California and Sacramento. The 10th Susan & I return. The 12th Dennis & Jenny and Keith & Pat return

The Day After

August 8th Touring

Can you tell how miserable we are in this heat plus humidity? They call it an index and say that the heat plus humidity add up to 108 degrees. We started at 7:05 am and finished at 2:00 pm. It was a hard day /82 miles. Tomorrow we do it again and will be along the Erie Canal. Lot of reform history from this area.

Thanks to Marilyn, Jim, Suzanne and Jan for the very nice cards!!!

Day 44

Niagara Falls NY to

Henrietta NY

Two more days and we are on the Atlantic sea board.

Day 48

Troy NY

To Battleboro VT

The bicycle tour ended yesterday about noon as we rode to the beach dipped our wheels in the Atlantic Ocean and got all teary eyed. We met our wives there after over 50 days. But the ride started with rain for 32 miles. It then stopped raining and we finished okay. The bikes are at a bike shop being shipped home. We are going to spend some time in Maine then head home. What a ride!!!

Day 50

Manchester NH to

Portsmouth NH

Well interesting riding like crazy to get in before the lightening and rain and thunder. Today one fellow on the ride fell and broke his collar bone. We are all very cautious riders in our Amigos group. This fellow who had the problem and broke his collar is a wild one. I feel sorry for him, being so close to the end. He is the one who broke a collar bone last year on the very first day. Does that tell you anything? The ladies are in the air flying to Boston today. closing in on this ride.

Day 45 and 46

 Henrietta NY to Liverpool

To Little Falls NY

Tomorrows our last day and Susan, Pat and Jenny will join us at the beach when we hit the Atlantic Ocean. We will have finished this epic trip. But today was a hard day of climbing. Some of us did walk one particular hill that measured a 17% grade. Otherwise we climbed every damned hill which totaled over fifty. But the weather was spectacular, it reminded me of the rides we had at Tahoe, (Steve/J.D./ & Tom). so all of you remember the party on August 26th @ Advent Lutheran, 2 to 6 pm. See you there.

Day 49

Battleboro VT to

Manchester NH

I hope these pictures and this bicycle tour has been fun for you all as it has been for us Amigos. This is the last of the pictures until.....who knows? We enjoyed Boston today and come home manna. See you all hopefully soon!!
